Since the birth of Happy Owl Glassworks in 2003, we have been featured in numerous publications including the LA Times, The Boston Globe, Cookie Magazine, the late Domino Magazine, Daily Candy, Bust Magazine, and many more. We were also thrilled to be included in the book Handmade Nation and the film of the same name this past year. We look forward to many more years of being curious and fascinated by the natural world, and sharing that interest with you!
BRIEF BIO & STATEMENT:
My interest lies in producing utilitarian glasswork with a naturalist feel, while still learning new techniques and evolving my style. Since I still have a strong interest in design and illustration, I incorporate this into the work as much as possible.
I have always been fascinated by the likes of birds, trees and simple curiosities
around me that deserve a closer look. I try to incorporate these ideas into my glass,
feeling that they are reachable by many walks of life. I pursued the media of glass
with a background in graphic design. Because of this rigid mindset, I can't seem
to shake the look of hard lines in much of my work. However, I try to create a
complimentary mix of warm subject matter with fine technical detail to amount to
a friendly body of functional glasswork. I hope you enjoy it.
